Para-Con 2008: Las Vegas

The first annual Paranormal conference in Las Vegas is set to kick off in late October. From Friday, October 24th to Saturday, October 25th. This conference will focus on the latest equipment in the paranormal field, including demonstrations of the gadgets. Live performances by local artists, movies, vendors and of course keynote speakers.

From their website:

ParaCON is not about being the largest Paranormal event in the country, it is about educating the public to the culture of paranormal. We have brought together many educated and beautiful speakers, artists, performers, models, etc to reveal to the world that paranormal is diversity. ParaCON 2008 is about celebrating and understanding the many cultures it crosses.

The two main keynote speakers will be Dr. Barry Taff and Professor Loyd Auerbach. I’ve blogged on GhostTheory about Dr. Barry Taff before. I admire his work; not just from a paranormal investigation perspective, but more for the scientific approach (whether it be biological or psychological) he brings on to each case. Dr. Barry Taff has a doctorate in psychophysiology and a minor in biomedical engineering from UCLA. He has worked out of the former parapsychology laboratory at UCLA’s Neuropsychiatric Institute as a research assosciate where he studied telepathy, precognition, and remote viewing as well as poltergeists, doppelgangers and UFOs. He was one of the leading investigators in the Doris Bither culver city haunting, or commonly known as “The Entity” case.

Dr. Barry Taff (investigated hundreds of paranormal cases, including “The Entity” case)

Professor Loyd Auerbach teaches parapsychology and is an Author of countless paranormal books.
He’s investigated many cases and has been a consulting editor and columnist for FATE magazine.

I think this will be an interesting gathering not only from a networking perspective for us writers/bloggers/investigators but because I really want to attend the lectures/speeches or Dr. Barry Taff.

The event itself looks like it will be a gothic type of gathering. People all in black, black lipstick, black nail polish…blah blah. Regardless of all that, I’m really interested in the lectures. So if you all don’t mind dealing with Eric Draven wannabes, then this should be a perfect way to spend the weekend before Halloween.
