New ‘Sallie house’ documentary

The house that is said to be haunted by a little girl who supposedly died in a botched surgery, resides in Atchison Kansas.
Now, It seems that a documentary film is being done about the haunting.
I think the story is more based on urban legend than actual haunting of the property. I know that the initial owners that reported this phenomenon had moved due to the haunting. The next pair of owners (and owners afterwards) did not report any unusual occurrences.
Many psychics/mediums and paranormal investigative teams have visited the home and reported personal feelings or uneasiness. Nothing more. No physical attacks nor paranormal events captured on film.
Several people pass by a little two-story house on North Second Street in Atchison every day. What’s surprising is how few people know about all of the bizarre things that have allegedly happened there.
Those who are aware of the freaky events know it as The Sallie House. As legend has it, the house is haunted by a little girl named Sallie who died during a botched appendectomy inside. For years, tenants who have lived in the house have reported harmless happenings like electrical appliances switching on and off and pictures turning upside down as well as violent attacks that left victims with welts and bloody scratches. The latter was even documented on the ‘90s TV show “Sightings.”
After watching some amateur videos filmed in the house on the Internet, Atchison Media Services owner Scott Unruh felt the story of The Sallie House was not only worth telling, but putting on film.
“It’s hard to get a spook to act on cue,” Mr. Unruh explains, “but with The Sallie House, the more cameras come in there, the more these weird things occur.”
Mr. Unruh set out to produce a documentary film simply titled “The Sallie House.” The hour-long film has three parts: a re-enactment of Sallie’s appendectomy, interviews with former victims and a paranormal investigation of the house.
The paranormal investigation was headed by acclaimed Canadian psychic, Robbie Thomas (who’s famous for finding dead bodies for law enforcement agencies) and Michael Esposito, a specialist in EVP (electronic voice phenomena), a recording process that captures hidden voices riding ambient noise. Mr. Unruh joined the duo during their investigation and says the results are somewhat unsettling.
“I didn’t feel anything (when I was in the house), but Michael got some incredible EVPs,” he says. “There were some fantastic ones that he pulled out and they do kind of creep me out.”
Chuck Pulliam, Jennifer Stammers and Faith Nagel are the three local actors who took part in the surgery re-enactment. Mr. Pulliam says everyone who was involved takes a great deal of pride in being a part of the film.
“This is a local event,” Mr. Pulliam says. “Not only are the house and the hauntings local, but it’s a local production company with local people and local actors.”
“The Sallie House” premiered June 11 at Theater Atchison. Mr. Unruh also will hold a screening of the movie in Topeka this summer and is trying to find a venue in St. Joseph to hold a screening. For more information or to order a DVD copy, visit www.thesalliehousemovie.com.

Was that episode of Sightings called “The Heartland Ghost”? I think they did two episodes about it (one of which was an update). The husband would have welts appear on his back and I seem to recall a rose that caught fire in a glass of water- something like that. Wasn’t there a tv movie about it called “The Heartland Ghost”? Looking back (if what Sightings reported was legit) I think it was more likely a poltergeist instead of a haunting- the scratches and mysterious fires are often reported in poltergeist cases. Not that I claim to know what a poltergeist is.
I guess a common idea (which I subscribe to) is a poltergeist feeds off the energy generated by certain types of people who are experiencing a particularly stressful patch in their lives. Whether a poltergeist is a spirit(s) using that energy to manifest or rspk or something akin to a tulpa who knows- maybe it’s all of the above and more. But we know poltergeists usually flare up and die down within a matter of weeks or months. That might explain why no subsequent owners have experienced the things that were previously reported.

Hey Javier, I agree with the first comment; no little girl ghost will go around inflicting scratches and harming people like that in Kansas. Poltergeist’s can and will manifest into what they want and deceive the living as a helpless little girl in order to stay in this plane of ours. Poltergeists are cunning and will take advantage of a persons compassion by putting on this mask of innocence.

I have to agree with you guys on this. I think it’s a great possibility that the attacks were probably initiated by some Psychokinetic energy brought on by the owner. Maybe even an evil presence, but little girl ghosts don’t usually attack people. From what I know.
Demons can manifest in the form of a lot of things. They will sometimes manifest in the forms of small children or deceased humans in order to manipulate the people they are tormenting. I have read a lot about this particular case and I have seen a few documentaries on it. This case certainly sounds demonic in nature. There certainly seems to be a lot of intelligent haunting activity occurring, but it would not surprise me if demonic activity held some responsibility.
