This sounds like a lady who is still in shock. Even if she is getting paid, I think that this shows major evidence of a person who just can't let go. People express their pain and sorrow in weird ways. Putting buckets of candy in the house with the kids' pictures in them is a major tell tale sign that she's just not able to move on. I'm not saying that it's easy to get over something like this, because I have never been through anything like that (hopefully never will. It just reminds me of stories like Joe DiMaggio sending flowers to Marilyn Monroe's grave every day for however long...only slightly (okay, majorly) more twisted. Who knows, maybe Halloween was their favorite time of year.

I'm not a fan of Halloween in the first place but this just baffles me. She has to be losing touch with reality to think this is alright.

What I don't understand is why the Grandmother didn't help the kids out of the house. I wouldn't have let them out of my sight until they were outside. Maybe she was too frail but she got herself out.

This is a very sad story all the way around.
