Travel Channel: Ghostly Lovers

You know, I used to read stories that involved a succubus or incubus and I always rolled my eyes. Then I became a little more “learned” and figured that these claims of spectral intercourse (for lack of a better term) could be attributed to sleep paralysis or could be the result of a hypnagogic experience. Then my world was flipped. I luckily came in contact with some of Doris Bither’s children. You know, the woman from The Entity?

After spending a couple of years researching and digging the facts into the Doris Bither case, I have very strong feelings about spectral intercourse. I’m not saying that I believe that ghosts exists and have the abilities to do such things, but the case did open the door to many more questions. Could this all be strong psychokinetic forces at play? forces that are manipulated by an unconscious mind and that to some extent, manifest themselves through some psychosomatic act?

I’m not sure. I was not present (or alive) when dozens of people stood inside Doris’ small bedroom and became witnesses to these claims. I can only go with what those witnesses tell me. Those witnesses, who some were scientists, have come forward to back up Doris’ claims. Dr. Barry Taff is one of those scientists. His investigation into what could possibly be one of the most well documented cases in the annals of the paranormal, has given most of us a glimpse into the unknown.

Dr. Taff recently contacted me about the Bither case and we’ve exchanged a few emails. His meticulous work has helped me understand what happened in that small Culver City house. Hopefully, he can continue to help me as I write Doris’ story in this book I’m working on.

But has there been any other cases since Doris’ ?

Well it so happens that premiering tonight on Valentine’s day, the Travel Channel will air Ghostly Lovers. In this program, several women are interviewed about their claims of sexual encounters with unseen forces. Dr. Barry Taff was interviewed for the show and will briefly discuss his involvement in such topic. The show also recaps Doris Bither’s case. So if you are interested in the case, don’t miss it.

Whether you believe that such things could or could not exist, there are people out there that claim it has happened to them. Here is the show in its entirety. It was posted on YouTube, but I don’t know how long it will be up since I’m sure it is infringing on some copyright laws. Watch it here or catch it online tonight.
