Is this the Fourth Horseman of the Apocalypse?

For those that believe the book of Revelations, is this a sign of the end times? For those that don’t, is this something that sends a shiver up your spine? For those that see things from a skeptic’s point of view, is it all just a big load of hoax ham? And for those that can’t wait another second to answer their own personal internal question, go directly to minute mark 1:19 of the video! Do not pass go, do not collect $200. I’d venture to guess that most everyone is going to do that last thing.

During the riots in Egypt recently something unexpected happened, or did it? While a news report was running on TV a greenish figure that resembled a man on a horse seems to weave thru the crowd and then float off into the night sky. As many of you know I am a Christian so whether real or not this impacts me tremendously. I have received calls from other Christians, some of whom believe this is in fact the Pale Rider spoken of in Revelations.

The book of Revelations is in my humble opinion the most difficult book of the Bible to understand. The quoted scripture below may help to clarify what it all means.

“And I saw when the Iamb opened one of the seals, and I heard as it were the noise of thunder, one of the four beasts saying, come and see. And I saw, and behold a white horse: and he that sat on him had a bow; and a crown was given unto him; and he went forth conquering and to conquer. And when he had opened the second seal, I heard the second beast say, come and see. And there went out another horse that was red; and power was given to him that sat there to take peace from the earth and that they should kill one another: and there was given unto him a great sword. And when he had opened the third seal, I heard the third beast say, come and see. And I beheld and lo a black horse; and he that sat on him had a pair of balances in his hand. And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts say, a measure of wheat for a penny and three measures of barley for a penny; and see thou hurt not the oil and the wine. And when he had opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth beast say, Come and see. And I looked, and behold a pale horse; and his name that sat on him was Death and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth to kill with sword and with hunger and with death and with the beast of the earth.” Revelation 6:18.

Bible Commentary says this about the color of the fourth horse: “‘Pale’ (chloros) denotes a yellowish green, the light green of a plant, or the paleness of a sick person in contrast to a healthy appearance.” Put bluntly, this horse is the color of death.

Although I do want to give you a little insight into what the video relates to I don’t want to get into a big thing here because the point of this article is the video itself and how authentic it may or may not be. On the other hand it’s difficult to ignore the subject matter. Many of us will dismiss it immediately and still others will take it as a sign from God as I mentioned above. I saw several comments on YouTube that gave similar explanation to the one written by commenter Brognor:

It doesn’t matter if it was a reflection. The world saw it. Using biblical logic it would not matter HOW it was seen, but rather that God ALLOWED it to be seen through the video. Most of you are arguing science against that.

Is this the “pale rider” from Revelation?

A mysterious, pale green figure seen in televised news coverage of the Egyptian riots has prompted some viewers to ask, “Could this be the Fourth Horseman of the Apocalypse?”

The footage, provided by Euronews and subsequently seen on MSNBC, CNN and uploaded over a dozen times to the popular video sharing site YouTube, captures the fiery, violent protests in Cairo this past week … and something else.

Between the crowds of protesters and barricades, the video shows a flowing, pale green image that resembles an erect rider atop a horse in Medieval-like barding. The ethereal figure remains for a few moments before floating over protesters’ heads and off the screen.

The last of the biblical Book of Revelation’s Four Horseman of the Apocalypse, the “pale rider” is said to be the bringer of death and the forerunner of “hell” on earth. Are all these events the natural order of things, or warnings of the end times described in the Bible? The strange image can be seen beginning at the 1:19 mark of the video

The Book of Revelation refers to a time when “the Lamb” – usually understood to be the Lamb of God, Jesus Christ – opens the seven seals of a scroll of judgment. Each of the first four seals is accompanied by a horseman of a different color, each bringing a separate calamity.

When the fourth seal is opened, Revelation 6:8 records, “And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.”

Is the image from Egypt a fulfillment of Revelation’s prophecy? Comments from the tens of thousands of viewers who have watched the video on YouTube express a wide array of opinion. Some claim the video’s “pale rider” is a sign and the greenish tint is somehow symbolic of Islam, while others insist the image has been added to the footage by editing technology. Still others point to three, trailing points of light in the footage that move away from the crowds at the same time and speed as the “horseman,” indicating that both the “rider” and the lights are merely smudges or reflections cast on the lens of a moving camera. One comment, from a viewer calling himself TheRhythmhawk, also tried to explain the “pale rider” and the trailing lights as simply lens reflections, but eventually concluded, “The image of the horseman leaves more questions than answers.”

I’m not sure how to take this but one thing I can say and I’m sure everyone will agree; this is a horrible situation. When something like this happens to an entire nation it’s hard not to think of the warnings of the Bible. Death, destruction, violence, rape, these are all examples of the very disturbing situation in Egypt.

As GT is famous for its logic and fair minded investigation we have to examine the video and determine how it was produced. Logic would tell us that something funny is going on here whether it’s some overanxious person trying to send a message or just someone manipulating not only a video but many of those who view it. Furthermore it’s gotten its air and Interweb time (Worldwide) which is something else that makes you wonder. Typically something of this nature (IE: A questionable video) gets its 15 minutes either locally or nationally but how often does such a video get out to this many people? Could God have directed the producer of the video in question to get a message out to the world and if so why wouldn’t it be the actual Fourth Horseman? As much as I know I can honestly say I have a great deal to learn about God’s will. He loves to utilize us to get His message out.

The logical level headed part of me says it’s obviously fake but then again (and to repeat) we still go right back to how immense the exposure has been.

Is this a sign of the end times? Well, I can certainly say that it’s not in the order it should be in accordance to scripture. So right there is a strike against it being a sign from God. Or is it? Many will argue that the 3 other horsemen have already come to pass. But there’s still this nagging feeling that something funky is going on here.

The Bible says that no one knows when the end will come but the Father. However, it also says there will be signs that will clearly signal the end is near.

At the end of the day we can look at this from two separate angles: We can view it as just another faked video and try to prove it or we can take it as a lesson in Faith and accept it as a sign from above. My Faith tells me to pray for guidance but I will also follow the modus operandi that I often speak of (start with the most logical explanation and work down the line to the most illogical). We have some great GT investigators that I’m sure have plenty to say about the video in question. I for one look forward to all the sleuthing.

Side Note: I’m going to avoid the seven seals and how the horsemen fit into that as I don’t want this article to be waaaay long and 10 times more confusing (to me), LOL!

So have at it GT readers!
