Blimpin’ For Bigfoot

Blimpin’ For Bigfoot

While trail cams if only by their very inflexibility have, to date, proven only their complete unreliability, and/or Bigfoots have proved to be not so very foolish as to stand for group pictures, a remotely controlled mobile camera may stand a better chance of capturing the next level of evidence of the existence of Bigfoot.

Researchers plan to use one-of-a-kind airship to search for Bigfoot

By Ben Coxworth

Fifteen years ago, Utah-based prospector William A. Barnes was on a solo gold-dredging expedition in the wilds of Northern California. One night, he heard something disturbing the rocks in the canyon above his campsite. He proceeded to watch as that indistinct “something” came trudging downhill, until it stood only about three feet (0.9 meters) from his tent. At that point, upon seeing its size, shape, and profile against the brightly-moonlit quartz hillside, he became a firm believer in the legendary creature commonly referred to as Bigfoot or Sasquatch. In the years since, he has become obsessed with researching the animals. Now, as the founder of The Falcon Project, he hopes to prove their existence once and for all – with the help of a state-of-the-art remote-control camera-equipped airship.

William Barnes is equipping the Aurora with gyro-stabilized thermal imaging/infrared/HD video camera built specifically for the research project along side CO2 detection equipment.

According to the Falcon Project’s own website:

THE FALCON PROJECT – The most penetrating search for the legendary Sasquatch ever undertaken

The unmanned 45′ dual airship is equipped with a proprietary propulsion system that can carry the airship at speeds of 35-45 mph and maneuver with the degree of precision necessary to track a fast-moving animal. The construction, instrument integration, and flight training is being provided by Remote Aerial Tripods Inc.  of Canada, with Stephen Barkley as lead designer of the Aurora Mk II. The airship, gyro-stabilized camera mount, and ground operations equipment have been designed specifically for the requirements of this task. The sleek, quiet, never-before-used technology eliminates the noise produced by conventional aircraft and on the ground investigators, allowing stealthy approach to wary reclusive species.  The challenge of locating a solitary, nocturnal far-ranging, intelligent primate is demonstrated by the dearth of definitive photographic evidence. The Falcon Project offers a novel approach employing the latest technologies.

You can also visit the Falcon Project Website for updates. Sadly, in the event of a potentially real sighting, it is the announced intent of Falcon Project to make public only a few seconds of footage while retaining all remaining footage for documentary purposes. A plan which at the outset will only feed rumors of hoax and add to the already pervasive blobsquatch lore which clogs the channels of You Tube At least with any and each new “video bite” we can hope for the promise of eventual release to the public.

I guess we can at least hope the Aurora does not generate more UFO sighting reports, than Bigfoot sighting reports.
