Marble Hornets #69: Last Installment – Slender Man Exposed

Well MH fans, this is the end of the line. Due to the story getting stale and the low readership, I have decided to terminate the Marble Hornets series.

I know, I know, cheer up, It could be worse! Why, I could stop entertaining you with my rapier wit entirely!

Bottom line is that the Slender Man is no more real than the Yeti or it’s North American counterpart, the Sasquatch. Actually, those might be real, bad analogy. OK, how about this: Slender Man is no more real than space aliens….again, I have to admit that those are also a possibility.

I know, how about I just throw up the origins of Slender Man right here:

Slender Man Origins

On June 8th, 2009, a “’paranormal pictures” photoshop contest was launched on the Something Awful (SA) Forums. The contest required participants to turn ordinary photographs into creepy-looking images through digital manipulation and then pass them on as authentic photographs on a number of paranormal forums. Something Awful users soon began sharing their faux-paranormal creations with layered images of ghosts and other anomalies, usually accompanied by a fabricated witness account to make them more convincing. On June 10th, SA user Victor Surge posted two black and white photographs of unnamed children with a short description of “Slender Man” as a mysterious creature who stalked children.

Read more here….

Actually Victor Surge didn’t know it at the time, but he launched an entirely new genre and may have been one of the first “viral” pioneers.

So, there you have it! It’s all a fake!

Slender Man: Knock knock
Me: Who’s there?
Slender Man: Orange
Me: Orange who?
Slender Man: Hey genius, I’m not real.

I’m here all week folks! And by here, I mean somewhere else. And by all week, I mean just till Saturday. I have a game on Saturday. I’m on the Illinois State Curling Team. Now excuse me while I go polish my rock.

Oh, before I leave, I can’t forget to throw up my final installment of Marble Hornets. Just my luck it will probably end at 70. Well, if that’s the case, you’ll have to go over to Youtube to watch.
