Persian Gulf Sea Creature

Persian Gulf Sea Creature

Not too many cryptozoology stories come out of the Persian Gulf. Maybe its the mines, or the constant noise from naval activity that scares them off but these pictures have recent;y surfaced of a floating carcass supposedly discovered by a ship from Islamic Republic of Iran Navy.

Yes, I looked it up, Iran has a Navy.

Strange creature found by the Iranian navy in the Persian Gulf

There really is no report with this one, just the pictures, which is the first red flag.
Of course the first suspect is that this is merely a dead whale that has floated to the surface, and that is how this story is being covered by the Huffington Post

The Huffington Post reached out to Dr. Gary Griggs, director of the Institute of Marine Sciences at the University of California, Santa Cruz, for a second opinion about the floating carcass.

“From my vast knowledge and experience with whales and their skeletons, it is clearly a whale,” Dr. Griggs wrote in an email to HuffPost. “Although with the condition of the body, [it’s] difficult for me to determine what kind of whale.”

And when you look at these whale vertebra it is easy to see how with flesh rotting off of them, and no distinct body they could be mistaken for the dorsal spines we have come to expect from mysterious creatures.

A pretty common occurrence and a source of many stories of sea creatures. Let’s call this one solved.
