Exorcist Wanted: Inquire Within

In the midst of these hard economic times new employment opportunities can be difficult to find. The Catholic Church is doing its part for job creation and to open up new employment opportunities.

Vatican and Pope Francis Seek New Demon Exorcists
The Catholic Church says it’s dealing with a spike in Satanic worship by training a growing team of specialized priests to keep the devil at bay.

A new push to train priests in Italy and Spain to perform the mysterious rite of exorcism could rid these two Catholic countries of their demons—or at least confront a growth in occult worship.

Father Taraborelli is a trained exorcist for the Rome diocese, and his work schedule is very busy. He takes calls to set up appointments for private exorcisms on a dedicated cellphone number he only answers between 9 and 10pm each night. The rest of the time, he is performing the Catholic ritual to those in need.

“The church is very clear on the rite of exorcism,” he told The Daily Beast after one of his spiritual cleansing sessions this week. First, the person requesting the exorcism must be seen by a physician to make sure the cause of the perceived possession is not mental illness. That, he says, is at the crux of why Pope Francis wants to train more exorcists. “Exorcists need to be certified to eliminate the practice of exorcism by untrained novices,” Taraborelli says. “Otherwise it can be very dangerous for the person who believes he is under the devil’s possession.”

Taraborelli, who says he performs up to 100 exorcisms some weeks, is part of a new training program in Italian Catholic churches designed to teach priests called to this particular specialization. Similar programs have been launched in Spain and Malta, where a spike in devil-worshiping practices has caused concern among Catholics. A host of new websites advertising everything from pagan rituals to training in black magic and the occult have sprung up in recent years and the Catholic church is hoping to fight fire with holy water. In Milan, seven new exorcists have been certified for service. In Florence, five new exorcists now take appointments.

How does one confront the hosts of Hell when they are in possession of a true believer?

“I cast you out, unclean spirit, along with every Satanic power of the enemy, every spectre from hell, and all your fell companions…”

If it doesn’t work and the possessed still feels he is doing the devil’s work, the exorcism can be repeated as often as is necessary. And if it does work and the person feels free, Taraborelli says he always recommends that the newly liberated person spend a lot of time in serious prayer, like “taking vitamins after getting rid of a bad flu.”

Francis is not alone among modern Popes to increase the ranks of the Exorcism Corps.

According to Mental Floss

John Paul II personally performed three exorcisms during his reign, and Pope Benedict XVI expanded the ranks of Catholic-sponsored exorcists throughout the world. In fact, Father Gabriele Amorth, the Church’s chief exorcist, claims to expel more than 300 demons a year from the confines of his Vatican office, and there are some 350 exorcists operating on behalf of the Catholic Church in Italy alone. Amorth also teaches bishops how to tell the difference between satanic possession and psychiatric illness, noting that those who suffer from the former seem to be particularly repulsed by the sight of holy water and the cross.

According to Wikipedia notable exorcisms include:

Mother Teresa allegedly underwent an exorcism late in life under the direction of the Archbishop of Calcutta, Henry D’Souza, after he noticed she seemed to be extremely agitated in her sleep and feared she “might be under the attack of the evil one.”

Anneliese Michel was a Catholic woman from Germany who was said to be possessed by six or more demons and subsequently underwent a secret ten-month-long voluntary exorcism in 1975. Two motion pictures, The Exorcism of Emily Rose and Requiem are loosely based on Anneliese’s story. The documentary movie Exorcism of Anneliese Michel [31] (in Polish, with English subtitles) features the original audio tapes from the exorcism. The two priests and her parents were convicted of negligent manslaughter for failing to call a medical doctor to address her eating disorder as she died weighing only 68 pounds. The case has been labelled a misidentification of mental illness, negligence, abuse, and religious hysteria

Bobby Jindal, governor of Louisiana, wrote an essay in 1994 about his personal experience of performing an exorcism on an intimate friend named “Susan” while in college.

Salvador Dalí is reputed to have received an exorcism from Italian friar Gabriele Maria Berardi while he was in France in 1947. Dalí created a sculpture of Christ on the cross that he gave the friar in thanks.

ohann Blumhardt performed the exorcism of Gottliebin Dittus over a two-year period in Möttlingen, Germany from 1842-1844. Pastor Blumhardt’s parish subsequently experienced growth marked by confession and healing, which he attributed to the successful exorcism

There is no link for Human Resources on the official Vatican webpage so you will probably have to apply in person. There is also no mention of benefits, but as they are based in Italy I am pretty sure you will be exempted from Obama Care. Rest assured though, your reward awaits you in heaven.
