Meet Joe, GhostTheory’s newest editor

Joe Ruiz – GhostTheory Editor

Intrigued since I was young about paranormal activity, I took on reading and viewing many stories about the unknown. To this day it’s hard to say what’s real and what’s fiction, with so many people claiming to investigate the paranormal activities and start up shows where you cannot see the entire view of incidents of which are occurring. I have met Javier Ortega recently and love what he has started and was invited into also being an editor for his site. I have been out of date reading and researching, but let me tell you I’m honored and love how’s he is taking the approach on this subject and this site.

When I was young a few things brought me more and more to view the paranormal and unknown in a different light. First I’ll start with an incident that occurred when I was around 5 years old and that one I rarely speak of.

I was living in East Los Angeles at the time with a younger brother, mother and father. I honestly cannot remember the exact date this was but I do remember I was just starting kindergarten. One Sunday night my mothers’ sister and her husband (my uncle) came over and brought their son (my cousin) he was 2 years younger than I was. We lived in a 3 bed room house, 1 bathroom a den and playroom. This is a night I’ll never forget.

As kids my brother, cousin and I were in the playroom and the adults were in the living room and den area. It was a short but fun evening, but prior to my family calling it a night I remember my father calling my cousin into the room where they were. My father loved joking and playing with my cousin because he would always smile, laugh and there was never a dull moment with my cousin. My father would love to chase him around like they were playing a game of catch me if you can. Although that was the only and last memory I have of my cousin, it was the best one.

The next day I went to school and once that day was over I came home which was routine. After dinner that night, while my brother and I are in our room playing I hear the phone ring and not many moments long after the phone was picked up, I just hear my mom crying out “NO”. Of course at this age you’re scared out of your pants. While I run out to the living room along with my brother, my father is yanking the phone from her hand as she’s shaking and crying hysterically. While I run to my mother I see my dad’s tears pouring down like rain.

My cousin had drowned that day, while construction was being done at my aunt’s home. They had a swimming pool and apparently my cousin walked through the back door, right into the swimming pool where he fell or walked right into the water. To this day no one talks about what exactly happened that day when he died. Our family went through hard times during my cousins’ loss.

Once emotions were starting to settle down with family members, something strange happened. One night my dad woke up to running footsteps in the living room. He woke my brother and I up and was asking why where were running around. To this day I have not asked my brother if he remembers. I can still picture the look on his face when we told him we were asleep. He slowly walked into the living room and stood in the doorway looking at the living in silence as my mother also stood up and along with him. These incidents happened for some good 2 – 3 months and would never happen when someone was in the same room. This is when I first realized that humans were not the only beings here. I have never written or spoke to anyone of any incidents that have happened to me. I have never been back to this house since we moved out not to long after.

Not long after this happened one more paranormal activity occurred and this time my older cousin while visiting and my own mother were there to view and see this with their own eyes, and to this day have no explanation on this occurrence.

My name is Joe Ruiz and I am now an editor with ghosttheory.com. I will be reveling for the first time ever personal paranormal activity that I have personally experienced and heard of. Unfortunately since most of the activity did occur when I was younger I will not have any pictures, but I’m currently looking into revisiting the place’s I lived and hear of soon. I will be catching up with the assistance of Javier Ortega and promise to bring the most accurate and promising stories. Please keep an eye for my next articles that I’m currently working on. Also we will be attending the up and coming, para-con convention coming this late October.
