We’re Alive: Zombie Podcast

Submitted by Javier Ortega on November 30, 2009 – 1:15 PM7 Comments | 604 views

Bringing back the magic of radio theater, “We’re Alive” is a free podcast that chronicles the survival attempted of soldiers and civilians in a post-apocalyptic zombie infested Los Angeles.

I’ve not yet listened to a full episode, but I have finished half of the first episode and I must say that the production and acting is very good so far.

Synopsis:

A small riot in LA has spread past its containment. Three reserve soldiers are called to their deserted duty station. Believed to be the last remaining armed servicemen in the area, Michael, Angel, and Saul witness the true cause of the riot; people are starting to change and attack each other.

Armed with only what they can carry, they set out to secure an apartment building and rescue survivors scattered amongst the shattered remains of civilization.

In a world turned upside down, every day is a struggle, as those who have taken refuge in “the tower” find out that their safe haven is under constant threat. In this place, however, the strengths of those who stand together, might just be enough to live long enough to see things start to change.

Each Monday a new episode is released. Having started in the month of May of this year, the “We’re Alive” team has what appears to be a very well developed story line.

Very cool idea. I’ll be downloading these episodes to my iPod and listening to them during my daily run.
Let me know what you guys think of this project. I’ve love for it to succeed and continue.

Oh my gosh! Thank you so much for the recommendation! This is AMAZING. I can NOT stop listening. I’m telling everyone I know to listen to this podcast.

  • Nikki,

    You’re welcome.

I’ve been listening to the podcast while on the train each morning, it keeps getting more and more interesting.

  • I haven’t had a chance to check it out yet, but I wanted to say thanks for sharing it. I’m nuts for all things zombies anymore. (Not sure what’s up with that but…I just go with these obsessions as they come up.) Anyway, thanks for turning me on to something new!

My name is Shane Salk and I am one of the producers of the show. I want to thank you for your kind words about our production. It takes alot of work to put together and we want to continue to do so. At the moment we are not making any money doing the show, so your promotion and reviews and our listeners encouragment are what keeps us going, so again thank you very much

  • [...] deviating away from ghosts to feature my other passion: zombies. I found this next bit of fun via Javier Ortega’s post about “We’re Alive.” I came across it in my attempt to catch up on all the posts I’ve missed on the [...]

Great story line, but Michael sounds like that comedian “gaffagin”, and LT Angel sounds like a real nancy boy. They are supposed to be kick azz soldiers, not a dance troupe.

  • Eric says:

haaaahhhahahah the dude that plays LT Angel comes in and says thanks, and then Halboy calls him a ‘nancy boy’ in the next comment.

So a friend of mine recommended this to me a few weeks ago, and I was just checking out their site right after I left Ghosttheory for my morning viewing. I checked their links page and saw the link back here. Strange things are afoot at the circle K, Ted.

Anyway, good series overall. There are a few moments that it feels a little forced or unnecessary, but the story line is great and really fun. I stayed up til 3:30 last night listening to the last few episodes, and have one left. This is like the 3rd night in a row I’ve done that, so We’re Alive is fully responsible for me getting 4 hours of sleep per night. I am looking forward to listening to the last episode and I think the next part starts next month. I’m officially a fan.
