Patterson/Gimlin Bigfoot

Overnight AM has a blog post by Lan Lamphere in which he apologetically emphasizes that his previous headline of “Bigfoot found in North America” was a bad attempt at raising eyebrows and a product of time-constraints.

Regardless, Lamphere and crew decided to not include the BFRO in any part of the investigation and have instead giving Bill Birnes the task on putting together an ad hoc team of investigators.

Why did they decide to exclude Bigfoot researchers and hand over the investigation of the story to Bill Birnes? Apparently because “some members of the BFRO have become critical of this story, without knowing all of the facts.

I don’t understand why they would exclude BFRO from this investigation. In BFRO’s defense, the story was sounded incredulous from the start.

Check out what a Cryptomundo reader who goes by RWRidley said:

I listened to the program last night, and I was struck by the sheer number of red flags.

1. A man is visited by a group of Sasquatch for three weeks without once snapping a picture. I don’t buy that he’s too poor to afford a $10 disposable camera.
2. There may be as many as 16 Sasquatch in the group.
3. He lives in a high traffic area (you could hear the cars zooming by while he was on the phone).
4. He was standing five feet away from a male Sasquatch while he was on the phone with the radio host and the hosts instinct was to tell him to go inside. What? Hold the phone out and see if you get some vocalizations. The man said they are always grunting and making noises.
5. The P.I. he sends sits in the woods and snaps a picture of clear silhouettes yet this picture hasn’t surfaced anywhere.
6. The man is visited by Sasquatch, and he reports it to a UFO magazine.
7. Mike got noticeably nervous and quiet when he was informed that a group of researchers were coming out to his house this weekend to follow up on his claims.

Interesting.

I just hope I don’t see the name Biscardi in the group of researchers picked out by Bill Birnes.

BFRO

On July 3, 2010 I stated on air inside an interview with “Mr. Mike” that we had plans to send a camera crew to his location and document the events around his home regarding what he calls Bigfoot.  I also said that we would not leave the Bigfoot Research Field Organization out of the loop, and welcomed their participation.   Since then, some members of the BFRO have become critical of this story, without knowing all of the facts.

It’s for that reason that I have elected to forgo the inclusion of the BFRO in any field research and have turned over the responsibility of hand picking a team of qualified experts to investigate these events to Mr. Bill Birnes (UFO Hunters – History Chanel / Publisher of UFO Magazine/Author).

The Camera Crew

The Camera Crew will consist of one, or more, trained professionals inside of the field of wildlife photography.  This is the arena that I’ve had the most inquiry about, and have received the most advice on, over the past seven days via email and phone conversations.

The World Responds

At this time the story of Mr. Mike’s experiences have met with open ridicule and support from opposing factions inside the arena of interested Bigfoot enthusiast.  That was expected.  I appreciate healthy skepticism just as much as I appreciate healthy interest and enthusiasm.  My position has been to establish the credibility  of Mr. Mike, and his story, before money, time, effort and energy was spent on what could easily be, or become, a farce or scam not only on me, but on this audience.

I do not enjoy being removed from my postion as a talk show host and forced into the arena of investigator.  I said that we would move quickly on this story on July 3, 2010 in Mr. Mike’s first interview on Overnight AM, and I was serious.  I just didn’t tell the audience what I had in mind to validate Mr. Mike’s story.  I had a story on my hands that couldn’t be confirmed, but had body and form.  Sure the story was a great avenue for a Overnight AM show.  It was right up my alley.  A great entertainment avenue for any listener who was interested in the subject of Bigfoot.   But after listening to the show again, and again, and again- I came to the conclusion that Mr. Mike was telling the truth and I decided to act on it.  I even went as far to write Bill Birnes a email after seeing that this story was beginning to build more momentum, and that the character assassination of Mr. Mike, myself and anyone else involved, was a real threat.  If we were going to do this we had better commit to it 100%.  Otherwise we would be placing ourselves in a precarious situation if this story wasn’t investigated and acted upon correctly.

What’s happening now?

Time schedules were rearranged.  I’ve slowed the progression of the investigation.  Specific people are being sought out with plans to contractually bind them to Security-Nondisclosure Agreements for the protection of Mr. Mike, the creatures (if any) and anyone else involved in this story.  A feature length article is being prepared for Overnight AM’s Intrepid Magazine.  Right, wrong or indifferent.. the story continues.

(See the email to Bill Birnes, and the entire story of Mr. Mike’s Bigfoot encounters, including photographs, in INTREPID Magazine June issue 2010.)

This guy is a joke: “I appreciate healthy skepticism” however “some members of the BFRO have become critical of this story…I have elected to forgo the inclusion of the BFRO in any field research” and “the character assassination of Mr. Mike, myself and anyone else involved, was a real threat…”

  • David Rodriguez says:

Let me ask you something Terry. Have you listened to the interview of Mike?

If you haven’t, you may not have much of a foundation to speak from.

  • cheyanne says:

personally I think that if there is a bigfoot and it has been going on for over 30 years, what’s to say that if there is and somehow it is a mutant animal of some sort, there is no way that a MUTANT animal would live as long because of the mutation. Which would also say that if there is there would have to be more than one because a normal animal doesnt live past probably 12 years for a dog and most others, which would mean if there are more how come we haven’t found one yet because there would have to be more than one. This is also logical thinking of a 15 year old girl.

  • David R says:

    Hi Cheyanne,

We, meaning the majority of people who either research sasquatch or have seen one, don’t believe they are a mutant animal. There are just too many of them. They actually be a species all to their own that have been here longer then humans. I realize this isn’t something taught in school, none of us were exposed to it unless it was in a class covering mythological creatures. Unfortunately science has yet to validate their existence, mainly because they are just too cunning for us. The woods are their domain and they easily outsmart us in their backyard. So yes, there are more then one, there are easily many thousand across the country. You might want to do a little research on the net if you are interested. There are sightings all over the continent on a regular basis.

Here’s a sample of some documented encounters from just one organization. But this one organization by no means represents the true number of sightings.

    http://www.bfro.net/GDB/#usa

They also aren’t just normal animals. In school you’ve learned about our predecessors like Neanderthal Man right? There are other predecessors too, such as Homo Heidelbergensis or Australopithecus. Most scientists believe these predecessors died out, but what if one line didn’t and continued to evolve and grow? If they learned to avoid modern humans because we often harm things we don’t understand, why couldn’t they exist in the wilds beyond our reach?

    http://www.archaeologyinfo.com/species.htm

And IF they turn out to be one of these candidates, they could be part human too, that means intelligence and longevity that few other animals have. Imagine if they turn out to be one of these previously thought extinct candidates, or in fact another yet unknown genus. Nobody knows how long they live either, but its likely much much longer then 12 years. It is probably safe to say they are also primates like us. While a deer has a closer lifespan to 12 years, a chimpanzee has been known to live 60 years in captivity. Look at how long we live.

They also appear to care for their young and older family members just like we do Cheyanne. They probably even bury their dead. What other ‘animal’ does that except for us? Your school science teacher may say ‘hogwash’ to the existence of sasquatch, but he has to follow a teaching plan for one thing and again, science hasn’t recognized the species yet. It is probable that most scientists haven’t exposed themselves or researched the bigfoot mystery beyond a few books or articles. I for one, enjoy knowing that I have a knowledge about something that mainstream science can’t even fathom yet. Makes me feel a little smarter then them. lol

Anyway, do a little more research on sasquatch if you are interested. Just be careful where you do this research as there are places on the net that lack much real knowledge and only speculate theories. We call them armchair researchers because they don’t actually get out in the field and learn firsthand. lol

    Good luck.

    Dave
