I’ll be mailing out the prizes this week. Once again congrats!

I watched Cropsey early last week and thought it was a very well researched and mysterious story. I’ve been reading online how many people were under that impression that this would be a type of “Blair Witch documentary”, but this could not be further from that. Brancaccio and Zeman’s meticulous research takes the viewers into a web of urban legend, murders and speculations. I thought it was very intriguing and very well structured. I have to admit, some scenes in the documentary were too much for me to handle. The scene in which a young Geraldo Rivera is reporting inside a children’s mental institution in Willowbrook, is something that one can’t easily erase from memory. Watching the inhumane treatment of these children is a frustrating and guilt-filled reflection of how our society can quickly forget about the poor and mentally unstable individuals. Watching how Brancaccio and Zeman blend this gruesome story with the tales of underground tunnels and depraved transients leaves the viewers to assume that the missing children might have received an equally gruesome fate.

I must admit that it left more questions on my mind, than what the documentary cared to answer. Frustrating.

The documentary serves as a reminder to never let your guard down and always be extra protective of your children.
