Rick Dyer’s Dead Bigfoot Saga: UPDATE

Posted by Henry Paterson | February 8, 2013 18

According to the Tribece Films Institute website there IS a project titled:

SHOOTING BIGFOOT (aka OF MONSTERS AND MEN) (2011 TFI/Insurgent Fellowship)
Morgan Matthews, Director

Of Monsters and Men is a fascinating and touching portrait of men who are obsessed with monsters and their adventures to find them.

According to the Minnow Films website Morgan Matthews is a Director involved with that organization.

Just a reminder, Rick Dyer was involved in the admitted fraud of the dead bigfoot kept in a freezer in Georgia that turned out to be a gorilla suit.

Next he is said to have shot another bigfoot during filming of a documentary and had that creature taken away from him by the documentary crew, who then severed all ties with him. The corpse is reported to have been taken to a “major university” that remains unnamed.

You can read our coverage of this saga in these stories:

Another Dead Bigfoot

Musky Allen, self proclaimed skeptic, is claiming the recent Rick Dyer claim to be absolutely true, and that he has personally seen the body

Musky Allen interview part 1

I have to say, from Musky’s interview, he knows nothing about how an autopsy is performed and gains no credibility in his description.

So here is part two of the interview

Let us take a minute to reflect. Rick Dyer claimed that a dead bigfoot was in his possession and it turned out to be an ape suit. Years later Dyer is approached by a British documentary crew to assist them in finding bigfoot, despite the fact he is an admitted fraud. He does so, and in the course of filming he shoots the creature. That documentary crew confiscates the body and severs all ties with Dyer and has the body delivered to a “major university.” Despite having severed all ties, Dyer is still granted access to the corpse to the extent he is permitted to bring guests to see it. That corpse is being stored in or near Las Vegas, so despite the fact that the university is kept secret, it is now likely hinted to be University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

Given the circumstances there are of course some doubts about Dyer and now Allen’s claims. There are substantial inaccuracies in Musky Allen’s statement, as well as discrepancies in the various reports around this story.

Musky Allen goes on to claim:

I’d also like to mention about people’s comments on why my word isnt important like ‘Jeff Meldrums’ would be, and that i was paid to lie!! Fact is, I exhausted myself to try and arrange Jeff Meldrum to accompany me with repeated emails…Instead his ego and greed was more important requesting his ‘Standard’ appearance fee (in the tune of $5,500 even though there was to be no filming) paid accommodations, and full travel expenses paid was the response. Based on that, Meldrums scientific approach was about ‘Getting paid’ to use his name, NOT to validate any discovery which i tried to do!! Lastly, I’ll say this again. I 100% stand behind what i saw, this was a Sasquatch!

Word of this has gotten to Dr. Jeff Meldrum and he has responded in a post on his Facebook page:

I was just read a passage over the phone from a post by Mr. Allen claiming he made repeated attempts via email to invite me to go to Las Vegas, but that I requested my “usual appearance fee” of $5500. LOL. This is a bald-faced lie. I checked to see if I might have missed ANY email correspondence from Mr. Allen and have nothing in my inboxes. Let Mr. Allen produce the emails from me. He can’t. WHAT DOES THIS SAY ABOUT THE RELIABILITY OF THE REMAINDER OF HIS TESTIMONY?

I hope Spike TV is finding this all very amusing. The bulk of people interested in Bigfoot believe that what we have been seeing in the recent months is a direct result of the $10,000,000 bounty that Spike has placed on definitive proof of bigfoot.

I would like nothing more than the proof of various cryptids, alien civilizations, even alien visitors to be found. But that proof will come only through rigorous science and objective analysis, and by holding evidence to the highest standards of scrutiny. Born in south eastern Pennsylvania, i have found myself at one time or another living in Chicago, Cleveland, Raleigh-Durham, on the island of Kaua'i and finally landed on the Olympic Peninsula of Washington State. • Everyone? No
Rick Dyer and Musky Allen? Yes

Dyer is a con artist and a hoaxer. No one know where he receives his income. His Youtube videos display an unstable and disturbing individual. No one has ever seen any type of research video catalogs, assuming much of it would be nothing. We would expect he would have filmed thousands of hours in case he could accidentally get a glimpse from further review, like most believable Bigfoot video footage. We would have expected him to document written extensive details on each Bigfoot expedition that would include exact locations, time, weather conditions, witnesses, descriptions of Bigfoot, activities noted by BF, etc. Has he ever taken a foot impression casting of a BF? No. Not one image of his alleged dead BF, yet he had a cell phone to film that same living BF from a tent? If he shot it in the back of the head, the face would have been blown out. His fraud partner, Musky, said no physical damage to the face. Hundreds of thousands of people have gone into the woods every day and night, with recording equipment, since the 1967 Patterson-Gimlin film. What are the chances an internationally known hoaxer could have gotten video footage of BF close up, taken a rifle out of his tent, shoot it dead and have a documentary crew on hand? My theory if something is revealed on video… Dyer will use it like the Minnesota Ice Man. No one will be able to examine it physically, but you will be able to pay $10 to enter a Freak Show traveling trailer to view the special effect suit. He may hire an individual or marketing firm to play the shell game in order to distance his name to increase curiosity. Facebook Find Bigfoot is in on the hoax. They’ve been discredited numerous times for their pathetic attempts to give credibility to footage that has been proven to be HUMANS walking or blury individual pixels that are not discernible to the average BF info follower, Photoshop experts or video experts.

  • While I cannot really argue with your assessment of Dyer and Allen, it is not necessarily true that a shot to the back of the head would blow the face off. That would depend upon the caliber and type of bullet, the load of the cartridge, distance between the target and the rifle, the thickness of the skull, and the angle of the shot.

What a prediction you made here, eleven months ago. And now, coming to a gas station near you in small town America, the traveling hoax in a box freak show, lol.

  • Where did you find that picture?

  • WldHrt

It’s all over facebook. This particular photo was taken by a well known bigfooter who saw Dyer in a restaurant in Ritzville, WA, walked outside, walked around the trailer and heard no humming of motors and snapped this photo. Dyer evidently has a fake body, he is posting videos of the reaction of random people who see his hoax in a box and traveling side show.

I have read Hundreds and hundreds of reports and I would venture to say most are believable. sure there are a Bunch that you just know are BS, but lemme ask you this. How many reports have to be true for the Big fella to exist?

    One….just one(1)

  • Absolutely true. The same is true of UFOs, Ghosts, and the Easter bunny. The problem is not how many stories must be true, the problem is determining the truth.

As far as this article, Dyer is a known and admitted hoaxer, and Musky Allen’s description of the creature’s autopsy is ridiculous.

For the record, and I have stated this before. I believe in the possibility of Bigfoot. A choice I do not make in the case of Nessie, or Mokolo Embembe, or the Mothman, et. al. The evidence in favor of Bigfoot has considerable merit. There are also a considerable number of questions. Those questions are only magnified by the dross put out to the public by people like Dyer and Allen in this case, and others, and their BS only serves to support the failure of credibility of legitimate research, ensuring that if there is a creature no one with credibility will look for it.

I also feel pretty sure about the Thylacine, and would love for the Thunder Bird to be true.

How about the Mongolian Death Worm?

I just did a search and holy crap http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1504443/ it has it’s own movie

  • Have not seen that movie yet, but it would be tough to beat “Tremors.”
Maybe I should do a review.

  • The Oshmar

Yeah I’ve seen tremors, you should totally review the death worm movie.

Could make it a weekly thing instead of marble hornets ;D

Great assessment of this situation. I felt that tjis was an incredible story when it first broke. When the facts started coming out I began to feel a little skeptical in regards to Dyer. When Musky Allen was invited to see the supposed bigfoot, I thought that he was an unusual choice and highly questionable. Rick then gets some award from FB/FB? When I viewed his thank you speach I was secure in Ricks level of deception by what he said. It seems to me that if a film production was in possesion of something of something that would have an earth shattering effect within the science community they would have released it cor examination immeadiately. Even if they are looking to generate revenue, this would have no negative effect on the release of the documentary. In fact, it would generate tremendous interest in seeing the story of this creature! So I believe that the content of the documentary may not be in the same context as Dyer and his team are portraying.

How does this man (Rick Dyer) even get newsworthy anymore. He has done more harm to the bigfoot enigma than anyone else and yet he is still in the BF news!!! If there is anyone out there that pays attention to him, please pick another mystery to get involved in. You’re stupidity is bad for the reputation of real bigfoot researchers.

  • nomatter

I think Rick Dyers a real deal hunter who knows you’d have to be a total idiot to believe that there’s an 8 foot tall monkey man running around the woods eating, drinking, howling and making little bigfoots and no one can even produce one hair or scrap of poop or a clear face picture. There would have to be a population of these things big enough to reproduce themselves and yet no trail cam has ever got one clear pic? I think Dyer figures if these people are stupid enough to believe this nonsense then why not take their freakin money
