Seer: Reverend Douglas James Cottrell

Submitted by on March 29, 2013 – 8:25 AM5 Comments | 2,153 views

Following in the footsteps of Edgar Cayce I have recently learned of the Reverend Douglas James Cottrell. Cottrell, like Cayce supposedly enters a deep meditative state, which he refers to as Deep Trance Meditation, and is able to access what some call the Akashic Records. Got that?

Akashic Records are the sum of all existence written upon “the fabric of all existence.” I would personally think written is not the proper term, possible woven or embroidered into the fabric, but it would take a lot of old ladies to do all that embroidery. Akasha comes from the Sanskrit for “sky”, or in more modern and self serving interpretations, “space” or “aether.” The concept of this record, also referred to as a library was created by the Theosophist movement founded by Madame H. P. Blavatsky. Her works were in turn based upon spiritualism coming out of India, and tailored to the popularity of occultism of Victorian England. Her works were in turn used by Adolf Hitler as a basis for  Aryanism, the foundations of the Nazi Party and excuse for murdering millions of Jews, Gypsies and others. For a reminder of that I suggest you read Scott’s article on The Darker Side of Us.

On a side note, it is just one of those quirks of history I find ironic that while origins of Gypsies are shrouded in certain amount of mystery we do know they originally came out of India only to end up being persecuted and murdered based on a distorted view of Hindu mysticism. What are you gonna do?

Back to The Rev. Cottrell.

Really, I was checking around to see if there was any new development in the Bigfoot Drama worthy of the discerning GT reader when I found mention of the origins of the species having been disclose by the good Reverend, and that disclosure just happens to be available on You Tube : ) as audio : (

Cottrell on Bigfoot

So Bigfoot were a slave race to the Atlanteans. “Beasts of burden” except the whole reason humans use quadrupeds as beasts of burden is that bipeds are not well suited to the tasks, and I guess Atlanteans had harnessed the the energies of the pyramids with all the telekinetic and teleportive powers contained therein, but still needed creatures ill suited to carrying heavy objects because they had not yet mastered the mysteries of the wheel.

Oh, but Cottrell does not limit himself to Bigfoot, there are few directions in which his trances do not take him:

On UFOs

That made sense, I am glad he is here to clear this up for us.

Life On Mars

30 billion years eh?
While it is refreshing to see a reverend who does not ascribe to the literal interpretation of the Biblical age of the Universe or the creation myth, it will certainly come as a shock to cosmologists that they are off on the age of the Universe by 16 billion years or so.

And a favorite of mine, Crystal Skulls

The crystal skulls are a number of human skull hardstone carvings made of clear or milky white quartz, known in art history as “rock crystal”, claimed to be pre-Columbian Mesoamerican artifacts by their alleged finders; however, none of the specimens made available for scientific study have been authenticated as pre-Columbian in origin. The results of these studies demonstrated that those examined might have been manufactured in the mid-19th century or later, perhaps in Europe during a time when interest in ancient culture was abundant. Despite some claims presented in an assortment of popularizing literature, legends of crystal skulls with mystical powers do not figure in genuine Mesoamerican or other Native American mythologies and spiritual accounts.

The only hold out was the first Crystal Skull, the Mitchell hedges Skull, about which stories of its discovery vary despite the fact that those stories come from the supposed discoverers themselves, and it too has finally been analyzed and found to be a fraud. Never would have guessed.

And just on the chance that he is for real, I misplaced my favorite hat a couple of years go and would really love to get it back. If anyone knows Cottrell and could ask him to let me know where it is, that would be great, thanks.

I would like nothing more than the proof of various cryptids, alien civilizations, even alien visitors to be found. But that proof will come only through rigorous science and objective analysis, and by holding evidence to the highest standards of scrutiny. Born in south eastern Pennsylvania, i have found myself at one time or another living in Chicago, Cleveland, Raleigh-Durham, on the island of Kaua'i and finally landed on the Olympic Peninsula of Washington State. I have turned my hand to various professions from early work in 3d graphics to historic building restoration, carpentry and log home building to working in a bronze art foundry on the WWII Veterans Memorial. Currently I am a writer, script writer and working for a non profit organization called Empowerment Through Connection which is involved in equine assisted therapy for veterans, at risk teens and women.

Hi Henry! Really enjoy reading the articles on G.T. It’s been on my daily (actually, nightly) list for at least a couple of years now. Being a member of the United Lodge of Theosophists, I am always surprised whenever I come across Blavatsky’s name especially relating to any given current topic. I’m not sure how to interpret mention of the definition of the term “akashic” record leading to Theosophy, then to H.P. Blavatsky, then to Hitler and the Nazi movement. While there is truth to this line, it could be interpreted by those who are not familiar the Theosophical aim and purpose to be a literal tie in with Nazism. The opposite is true, just like the use of the ancient symbol of the swastika….you can find its ties in India as well as in its architecture. Anyway, Cayce was an interesting guy…jury is still out on this gentleman….. for me that is. Cheers!

I am aware of the history of the swastika and its existence around the world. Blavatsky and Olcott borrowed heavily from Hindu mysticism and clearly describes the supposed Five Races springing from the Aryan, borrowed from Sanskrit and go on to state:

“Blavatsky used Root Race as a technical term to describe human evolution over the large time periods in her cosmology.
However, she also claimed that there were modern non-Aryan peoples who
were inferior to Aryans. She regularly contrasts “Aryan” with “Semetic” culture, to the detriment of the latter, asserting that Semitic peoples
are an offshoot of Aryans who have become “degenerate in spirituality
    and perfected in materiality.”

There is no question that Hitler used this and the popularity of Victorian occultism, especially among the “noble” classes as a means of manipulating to achieve his political ends. The description of a hierarchy of races is too easily perverted and based in no fact.

And while Theosophy may not have invented the concept of the Akashic record, they certainly popularized the concept, brought it out of obscurity so far as western culture is concerned and used it as a means of impressing their views upon the world. I do see that I said they invented it, and freely admit that was a mistake on my part, though as far as western culture is concerned they were the first to use the concept as a means of claiming they were informed by some higher source without offering any proof of that source.

So many great points you present and I’m not sure if this would be a practical venue to discuss each in length. However, she (Blavatsky) was definitely a controversial figure presenting controversial information, but the depth of the ideas she presented say in the Secret Doctrine were if anything thought provoking and I feel challenging to the mind. This is why I wanted to see what this gentleman had to say being presented as a “Seer”. I feel that there is “nothing new under the sun”, but maybe re-awakenings to things we might have known in the past which might only “present” themselves in a new manner. The subject of “Rounds and Races” is a very difficult one to grasp (not that I’ve grasped it myself), but from what little I’ve managed to glean, there is a distinction between physical and spiritual evolution and I think when the term “hierarchy” is used, it’s pertaining to the spiritual aspect of the being and/or race and not the outer shell (including skin color). In other words, how one might recognize a great teacher by their words AND works. She also made it clear in her Secret Doctrine that she synthesized teachings from the ancient occult schools and re-presented them for the “western” mind who at that time were mostly unfamiliar. There is a quote she used from Montaigne toward the end of her introduction of the S.D. that says, “Gentlemen, ‘I have here made only a nosegay of culled flowers, and have brought nothing of my own but the string that ties them”. I apologize for going on as I have, but you guys (team of writers) are obviously well thought out individuals which is always inspiring!!! Cheers
