UFO abducts airplane video deemed fake

Reader amb3rfatih86 submitted a curious video to us here last week, and wanted to hear our thoughts on this (and that includes you reading this). The video shows a UFO tailing what appears to be a small Piper Cub styled airplane. After the two disappear behind a house then reappear on the other side, the UFO insidiously pounces the plane and takes off in a blink of an eye. After a bit of reading and video watching, I continued wandering and grazing the internet. After watching a couple of humoress youtubes, I stumbled across a video which anaylized the UFO video in question with no conclusions except the update which stated the video was faked by a Justin Martinez who appears to be a experienced SFX artist. The UFO video was submitted by a jmart714. Coincidence? Probably not.

Here’s one of Justin’s video’s from his Vimeo homepage. He clearly states

I must say, my original intentions for this video were to release it on the internet, and fool the world. I wanted to try to make a video that looked so real, people questioned whether it could actually be fake. I admit, I was naive to think that people would believe, a video that showed ghosts attacking a man with a camera, would actually be real. Your eyes say, “Wow!” but your brain says, “No way.” However, I couldn’t keep myself from trying, and this is the end result. Hope you enjoy.

Creepy video, no doubt. Of course the arms don’t cast any shadows, that has to be your first clue that it was CGI.

Of course the end run of all of this is the fact that video is becoming harder and harder to distinguish from reality.  As posted earlier this year in the article Detecting video fraud, Dr. Hany Farid stated “Popular websites such as YouTube have given rise to a proliferation of digital video. Combined with increasingly sophisticated users equipped with cellphones and digital cameras that can record video, the Internet is awash with digital video. When coupled with sophisticated video editing software, we have begun to see an increase in the number and quality of doctored video”.
