Hi everybody. I just came across a really interesting skeptical website named Waffles at Noon. There, I found an interesting piece on a step-by-step debunking of a photo that has long circulated on the internet …

“Swamp Loggers” Stumble Upon Bigfoot Nest?

Submitted by on December 6, 2010 – 10:18 AM24 Comments | 7,893 views

SwampLoggers

According to the Bigfoot research team, Discover Bigfoot, on one of the latest episodes of the reality television show Swamp Loggers, the crew stumbles upon a Bigfoot nest out in the forests of North Carolina. Some of the crew members from the show photographed their find. The photos show matted grass and large mounds of scat surrounding the nest. The Discover Bigfoot team makes an argument about the similarities of gorilla nests and these so-called Bigfoot nests.

There is also talk about possible Bigfoot creatures being accidentally taped during the Swamp Loggers episode ‘Rainy Days’. On the 15 minute and 27 second mark, the Discover Bigfoot/ Facebook Finding Bigfoot team entertains the idea that possible Bigfoot creatures are lurking in the background of the scene:

Could the Swamp Loggers team accidentally have stumbled upon a Bigfoot nest and scat?

I doubt it. And let me tell you why…

What the Swamp Loggers photographs show is similar in appearance to a gorilla’s nest and fecal matter, but that in no way should be interpreted as hominids being responsible for this. Bears tend to leave the same ground indentations and matted grass while “nesting”:

Also, bear scat can be pretty massive as well:

I believe the evidence presented by the team is not compelling enough to claim these findings to be anything but a bear’s natural habitat and droppings. What do you guys think?

The case was dubbed "The Entity" and it stands to be one of the most controversial cases ever to be studied by parapsychologists.

I think it’s strange that something like this gets called a Bigfoot nest when we don’t have any reference for what a real Bigfoot nest ought to look like. Unless the Swamp Loggers stumbled on a drowsy Sasquatch inside, I would say all they found was a publicity stunt.

So, all this scat but nobody takes a sample to be examined? Furthermore if this was an actual BF den or baby cradle they would have likely found tons of hair. Seems they did a lot of lookie loo but no attempt at proof.

    Damn Hippies…

  • tdbgator

It’s a well known fact that Bigfoot has been known to disguize its nests as bear nests, and purposely make his scat look like bear scat to avoid detection!

  • PeterL

The piles of feces are very similar to bear , but only extensive studies over long periods of time could tell one way or another. Since nobody has developed extensive studies/footage of what bigfoot eat, its unlikely they’ll ever prove anything. This is could be the beginnings of proof of their existence though.

I wonder how many bigfoots have been sighted by loggers over the years and went unreported.

  • Hucksterfoot

    Single exit, almost a doorway?

So Bigfoot’s doorway is kinda like Less Nessman’s door.

I hope you are being sarcastic.

  • redngreen

I took it as sarcasm, got a good laugh out of that one lol

  • Hucksterfoot

There is nothing in this “Bigfoot nests and Swamp Logger site” video that indicate that it was made by a Bigfoot. I see a pile of confirmation bias, and absolutely no substantiating or corroborating evidence to back up any of these claims. Talk about giving people a false perception about what Bigfoot evidence is. It’s not even clear that this indent on the forest floor is a black bear ground nest.

  • tdbgator

    Ya think?

  • http://www.ghosttheory.com Scott McMan

Alright td, I can see you’re a dry humor kind of person. While I find it refreshing, Hucksterfoot is one of our best at digging up evidence of hoaxes.

I’ve all but given up my deadpan dry posts on boards as they tend to whoosh over the head of most everyone. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen anyone else attempt it. Half of me said you were joking and the other half said you were a misinformed dipstick. I apologize for doubting you. You are definitely a misinformed dipstick.

  • TaZZ

I remember seeing that show on Tv. There was also evidence that the bigfoot placed a circle of connecting sticks/twigs around the perimeter of the nest, along with the scat. Do bears do that?

  • redngreen

Scott, oh please do bring the deadpan back! While it is true the odds of td being serious about his post were pretty high, it’s worth the risk of your posts being misinterpreted. At least to me it is :) Sometimes I really miss DonBond. Hell I even miss jbondo :)
