Video: Blue UFO Over D.C.

Blue-UFO

Alright gang. Here’s the mystery for the week: What is this oval shaped blue light that seems to be flying above the Virginia night sky?
I’ll take a stab at it:

I would imagine this light either being created as a hoax by using LED lights on a kite, or some accidental UFO from a sky light. Those are my guesses. At first I thought that it could have been created with a laser, but I don’t know of a laser powerful enough to project onto the night sky. I could be wrong.

In an age where every person has a cell phone and every cell phone has a camera, any possible extraterrestrial sighting is captured for the world to analyze. Or, for the killjoys amongst you, this means that YouTube gets filled with a bunch of crappy looking videos of weather balloons that local news producers can use to fill up a few minutes of air time. Well, whether you’re a cynic or a believer, we have a new “encounter” to show you. Following the strange events in New York and Texas last month, a UFO has been spotted over Virginia only, this time, it’s blue. Any fans of Avatar will tell you that this could only mean that the aliens are planning on yakking ad nauseam about the environment before having creepy hair-sex with us. You’ve been warned.

In the segment below from DC’s Fox 5, you can see the footage as well as an interview with Bryan Fains, the man who recorded it on his phone.

Unrelated note: How hilariously ridiculous/awesome is the insane cinematic camera angle that the field team used to show Fains looking at his phone? It makes the whole thing seem even more like the early minutes of a movie you’d regret paying to see.
